Some Unknown Facts about —*—

  • Shadab Khan is an international cricket player who plays for the Pakistan National Team as a leg spinner and a lower-order attacking hitter. He was made Pakistan’s vice captain for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which will take place in September 2021.
  • He is known for making good use of the bowling line. He likes to bowl too wide or too close to the bowling stump, which makes it hard for the hitter to adjust to the delivery’s angle. He also likes to bowl a little bit slower and higher than other modern spinners, who might try to get the batter to play a risky shot in the air and lose their wicket. “Out Caught” is what happens to 64% of his T201 catches.
  • He grew up in a small town in the Northwest Punjab (Pakistan) district of Mianwali. Since he was young, he wanted to play cricket like his older brother. He then started playing cricket on rough fields in a farming village near the Indus River in Punjab province, which is also home to Prime Minister Khan and fellow Pakistan Test player Misbah-ul-Haq. Shadab trained there every day, which is how he got his famous legbreak and aggressive batting style. In 2012, he moved with his family to Rawalpindi, where he joined a nearby club and began playing cricket. His coach when he was young said that :

“He goes to sleep around 9 p.m. and wakes up before dawn. Since he wants to learn as much as possible, he has been doing that for years. Shadab liked hitting so much that he stopped bowling at one point. But I told him that if he became an all-rounder, he would have a better chance of playing at the highest level, and he agreed.

  • Raja Falak Sher, a close friend of his for many years, remembers a time they spent together by saying:

“I recall one time we went on a vacation to Lahore for a competition, and after the play, all the boys would go sightseeing, but Shadab used to go to sleep early and would just focus on cricket. His daily regimen has remained the same for years, and it has contributed to his success.

PHOTO

  • He discovered he could represent his country at an international level while playing under-17 for a domestic squad.
  • With his outstanding all-round performance in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup for Pakistan in January 2016, he quickly made his mark. He eventually became the series’ leading wicket-taker. In the same year, while returning from a local game, he received a call from his family informing him that he had been selected as a supplementary choice for the star-studded Islamabad United team, which included Pakistani veterans Saeed Ajmal, Misbah-ul-Haq, and Mohammed Sami. The late Dean Jones coached this team.

PHOTO

  • In his debut game, he claimed the vital wickets of Eoin Morgan and Kumar Sangakkara in an economical session. His performance graph was rapidly improving, and he was nervously banging on the Pakistan team’s door. His performance quickly drew the attention of reviewers, and he was named captain of the same team two years later.

  • At the age of 19, he made his T20 international debut against the host Carlos Brathwaite-led West Indian side in March 2017. He didn’t get to bat, but he was excellent with the ball, taking important wickets of Lendl Simmons and Sunil Narine at a record economic rate of 1.75 runs per over. Pakistan eventually won the match by four wickets. He also accomplished the unique achievement of being named Man of the Series in his debut T201 event.

PHOTO

  • During the same trip, he made his ODI debut against the same opposition. Despite his lack of performance, he was able to take key wickets from Shai Hope and their skipper, Jason Holder. This time, the West Indies won by four wickets.

  • On the same trip, he made his test debut a few days later. Pakistan scored 393 runs, outscoring the opposition by 81 runs. Shadab Khan, who finished eighth, contributed 16 runs. Pakistan was assigned a 188-run target in the fourth inning. It appeared to be Pakistan’s game. However, the visitors went all-out for 81 runs. Shadab Khan soon learned that he is more of a limited-format player than a test-format player.

  • Sarfraz Ahmed was named captain of the team for the 2017 Champions Trophy on June 19, 2017. Shadab Khan was also on the list. Pakistan entered the competition as the underdog. The reason for this is their lack of experience, lack of fitness, and poor performance since the 2015 World Cup.

[6]

  • India was the opponent in the opening game. After having their overs restricted due to rain, India went on to score 319 runs in 48 overs. A 289-run target in 41 overs was set for Pakistan. Pakistan was shut down for 164 runs while trying to chase the total. With 14 runs scored while remaining unbeaten until the very end of the game, Shadab Khan ranks third for Pakistan in this contest. Even harder was the following game.

AB De Villiers led the opposition.

  • African wing. In the allotted 50 overs, Pakistan was given a target of 220 runs. The score might look straightforward, but the pitch was better suited for fast bowlers. When Pakistan was 119 for 3, play was halted while attempting to reach the mark. Pakistan won the match because, using the D/L method, they were 19 runs ahead after 27 overs.

Pakistan trounced Sri Lanka with three wickets in the league stage and a formidable England team with eight wickets in the semifinals, making the subsequent game look easy. Taking a crucial wicket for Shadab Khan

In this contest, Joe Root

Then came the most anticipated match of the competition: the championship match against India, featuring famous players like Kohli and Rohit.

Yuvraj Singh as well as Sharma.

began the game by batting first and scoring a massive 338 runs. With the crucial wickets of Rohit and Virat falling in just nine overs, India’s response immediately began to fall apart. The most dependable team, Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh, arrived next. They are renowned for their great chasing skills, especially in challenging circumstances. This partnership represents the best chance for all of India. Pakistan’s efforts to get rid of this pair were extremely difficult. They walked slowly.

Then Shadab Khan came out in the 13th over. In the first five balls, he only gave up four runs. The last ball changed the course of the game. Yuvraj chose to guard the ball with his pads. But it took a sharp turn and hit the pad first. The umpire said, “Not out.” But Shadab chose to look at it. He made the right choice, and Pakistan got the dangerous person.

The whole crowd in Pakistan was ecstatic when Pakistan not only won the game but also took home the champion’s prize. Fakhar Zaman was named “Man of the Match,” but Shadab was the key player in their first win. He also took Kedar Jadhav’sy.

A few months later, in October, he got his first fifty in an ODI against Sri Lanka. Then, in that game, he got three wickets. Shadab got better with both the bat and the ball as time went on. On January 2, 2018, Shadab became the vice captain of Hong Kong Island United for the next season of the HKT20 blitz.

In the first match of the 2018 Asia Cup, he did a great job against Hong Kong, taking out two of their players. In the next game, which was against India, their biggest enemy, he got Rohit Sharma out by putting his googly between his pad and bat and hitting the stump. Pakistan lost that game by eight wickets, though. Shadab was also hurt a little bit, so he didn’t play in the next match against Afghanistan, which Pakistan went on to win.

Shadab was added back to the team for the Asia Cup finals against India. Before the match, former Indian leg-spinner Sivaramakrishnan called Shadab the Trump card. But he didn’t do as well as expected and lost all of his wickets. Pakistan lost by nine runs in the final match. Shadab’s fans also made fun of his new beard cut.

Twitter

When he was found guilty of abusing Chadwick Walton after dismissing him on April 2, 2018, during a T201 encounter against the West Indies, luck was still not on his side. A 20% penalty on his match fees was assessed against him. Despite Pakistan’s resounding victory in that match, he admitted his wrongdoing after it.

PHOTO

In May 2018, Pakistan went on a tour of England. During a practice game against Northamptonshire, Shadab got ten wickets and a run-out. He has already been compared to great Pakistani spin bowlers like Abdul Qadir, Mushtaq Ahmed, Shahid Afridi, and Yasir Shah, even though he won’t turn 20 until a few months from now. He has already played in 34 international games.

PHOTO

He scored two fifties in two tests and took three significant wickets, including their star opener Alastair Cook, demonstrating this time that he was more effective with the bat than the ball. He was chosen ahead of Yasir Shah, who was hurt. Pakistan brought the series to a tie.

Shadab stated in an interview that he is not bothered by any publicity surrounding him and is instead concentrating on getting better. Furthermore, he added that

“Up to this point, the adventure has been amazing. It has been a beautiful journey from playing my first international match against the West Indies to being selected for the Champions Trophy-winning team, and all I can do is praise God for his favor. I am aware that my career is just getting started, so I am concentrating on getting better every time I play. Hopefully, the results of that growth will be apparent in the future.

He also added

I understand that I was chosen for the team to replace Yasir Shah and that I will never be able to match the contributions he has made for Pakistan over the years, but I can promise that I will do everything in my power to help my team win on this trip. Before we traveled to England, Mushtaq Ahmed worked closely with me to improve my bowling, and now all the coaches, including Azhar Mahmood, are here to help me polish my abilities in preparation for the significant task that lies ahead.

Additionally, he recorded five wickets during that T20 series, propelling him to second place in the ICC T201 rankings, just behind the winner.

Khan, Rashid. Pakistan whitewashed Australia in the subsequent T20 series in October, making history in limited-overs cricket. Shadab Khan was instrumental in that victory. Glenn Maxwell’s important wickets were taken by him.

Chris Lynn and Mitchell Marsh He also successfully caught Chris Lynn with one hand while full-stretch diving to his right.

However, the Pakistani team was still having trouble with their ODI performance after losing to India at the Asia Cup. Again, Pakistan was defeated by visitors New Zealand in November 2018 by a score of 47 runs. However, Shadab was the star of the show, taking three wickets and dismissing their top three batsmen in the 42nd over’s first four deliveries. Two of his victims were interestingly leg-before, demonstrating his precision when bowling wicket-to-wicket. With the last game ending in a ‘no result’ owing to rain, Pakistan managed to tie the series at 1-1.

Regarding Twenty20 cricket, when Pakistan defeated the New Zealanders 3-0 in Dubai in October 2018, they were utterly dominating this game. With three wickets in a series, including the crucial catch of Kane Williamson during the third T20, Shadab once again excelled.

The 2019 ICC Men’s World Cup (England and Wales) was approaching. Although Shadab Khan was selected for the 15-man Pakistani team, an illness forced him to withdraw from the limited-overs series against England just before the major event. Yasir Shah, another leg-spinner, takes his spot. In a statement, the Pakistan Cricket Board stated that

66 Shadab Khan, a wrist spinner, has been eliminated from the series against England due to a sickness that will require treatment and at least four weeks of recuperation.

☐ However, it was eventually discovered that Shadab had hepatitis C. Then he received care from gastrointestinal and hepatology specialists in London. They recommended two weeks of medication and total rest for him. Later, he stated:

Naturally, I became upset when I learned that I had a viral infection in my blood, but my team members and friends were quite understanding. I really believe that everything happens for a purpose and is ultimately for the best. On the first day, I was uncomfortable, but I later assured my companions that whatever had happened was behind me. Anything positive that is meant to happen will. So I requested that they refrain from discussing it with me.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has recently made an announcement stating that Shadab Khan has been deemed physically capable to participate in the upcoming ICC World Cup. Consequently, he has been included in the 15-man team for this highly anticipated tournament, set to commence on May 30, 2019. Expressing immense delight at his acceptance, he articulated

Shadab expressed a consistent sense of optimism due to the early detection of the viral infection. After two weeks of medication, the substance is no longer detectable in my bloodstream. I am currently en route to the World Cup. Pakistan has consistently visited England during the past three years, thereby facilitating the process of acclimatization. In order to effectively confront the problem at hand, it is imperative that I establish a consistent rhythm, as doing so will ensure that I am mentally prepared.

The team experienced a defeat in their inaugural encounter against the West Indies, but they managed to secure victory in their subsequent game against the host nation, England, by a margin of 14 runs. Shadab successfully dismissed the formidable opening batsman Jason Roy and the influential batsman Joe Root for a low score. The subsequent cricket match was terminated as a result of inclement weather conditions, including heavy rainfall, in the encounter with Sri Lanka. Shadab was excluded from the subsequent match against Australia, resulting in a defeat by a margin of 41 runs.

According to historical records, Pakistan has not been victorious in any International Cricket Council (ICC) matches against their longstanding rival, India. The aforementioned record continued to exert a lingering influence on their performance, as they once again suffered defeat in the game, this time by a margin of 89 runs according to the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method. In this particular encounter, Shadab Khan did not manage to take any wickets.

However, Pakistan demonstrated a remarkable resurgence by securing a resounding victory in their subsequent encounter, amassing a total of 308 runs against South Africa. Shadab successfully dismissed Quinton De Kock, achieving his 50th wicket in one-day international matches. Additionally, he also took the wickets of Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen.

PHOTO

Pakistan then won their final three games against New Zealand, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh but, regrettably, was unable to advance. Three wickets were taken by Shadab Khan in the subsequent games. After defeating England in the Super-Over on the boundary count, New Zealand went on to win their first ICC World Cup championship. Nevertheless, Shadab didn’t let the selectors down and made a good choice.

His next goal was to prove himself as a useful all-rounder in the longer version of the game. Since his first test in 2017, he has only been able to take 12 wickets in five tests.

“I’ve played a lot of white-ball games, but only five Tests. So, I need to get better at both bowling and hitting if I want to be a good all-rounder in Test cricket as well.

He said this before attending the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore for pre-season training. Their former captain, Misbah-ul-Haq, was in charge of the camp.

PHOTO

He stated that his batting in the longer formats has improved.

I am making a lot of efforts via personal training and batting to bring about a major development in my batting so that I may be a productive member of the squad. To support the team with both batting and bowling in today’s competitive cricket, it is absolutely essential to be a superb all-rounder.

Their next task was the Australian tour, where they would play two tests and three T20 matches. As usual, Shadab is an important element of the team. He was also chosen for the test series. The tallest player in this test squad is also

Mohammad Irfan (7.1 feet), a legend in international cricket, is back after a six-year absence.

Australia humiliated Pakistan in both the T20s and the tests, inflicting a rare whitewash on them. Shadab was the best bowler for Pakistan, picking up three key wickets in their practice match against Cricket Australia XI, which they could only win. Marnus Labuschagne, an Australian batsman, became a sensation during this series. He has since started honing his batting techniques.

PHOTO

The PCB said that Shadab Khan, Haider Ali, and Haris Rauf have all tested positive for COVID-19 just before an England tour in July 2020 that will include three tests and a Twenty20 match. As Shadab’s report didn’t mention any symptoms, he was sent to live alone. In August, he was back in the T20 team and played against England. He took Moeen Ali out for 8 runs, which was his 50th wicket.

Babar Azam wasn’t there for the T20 match against New Zealand on December 18, 2020, so he got to lead the team. Shadab got 42 runs in 32 balls, but it wasn’t enough to stop the loss by five wickets. He wasn’t able to do much in the rest of the games, and Pakistan lost another series by 2-1.

PHOTO

Khan suffered another thigh injury during the last T20 at Napier, ruling him out of the entire test series against the hosts. Sohail Saleem, team doctor, stated

“”After the six-week period of competition, the medical panel will access and examine the injury before making a decision on Shadab’s comeback to competitive cricket.”

Shadab failed the fitness test and was thus ruled out of the series against South Africa, which included two test matches and three T20s.

He returned to the lineup for the ODI series against South Africa in April, scoring 33 runs and leading his team to a three-wicket victory. However, the team suffered a big setback in the second ODI when Shadab was ruled out of the remaining matches owing to a toe injury. He has also been ruled out of the T20 series against Zimbabwe, which begins on April 21 in Harare.

☐ The following tour was a three-ODI and equivalent T20 tour of England, which began on July 8. The games were to be played without any spectators in the stands. Azhar Ali, Pakistan’s test captain, stated

“It brings me great joy that we will be able to play again and travel to England.” Players are ecstatic and eager to play again. There are many young people on the team, and none of us have been able to accomplish what we love. Tours to England have always been difficult, but our results have been quite encouraging. Hopefully, we can keep up the good work and improve. Our trips in 2016 and 2018 were successful, as we won the Champions Trophy both times. We also did rather well in the World Cup. The crowd has been highly encouraging, and many Pakistanis attend matches. But, unfortunately, they will not be present this time, so we will do our best to entertain those watching at home during these difficult times.”

In ODI matches, England once again destroyed Pakistan, and in T20 matches, Pakistan lost by a score of 2-1. With five wickets, Shadab Khan was Pakistan’s top bowler. However, he was unable to quell the criticism leveled at him by former Pakistani captain Ramiz Raja, who remarked

“I’m baffled by Shadab’s batting.” What is his function when he bats? Is he a power hitter or a savior? He could have easily played today because they had a large number of extra overs. However, his batting is often experiencing a rusty phase. He ought to have a resume similar to Hardik Pandya’s. He has quick feet and is a strong hitter. It is sad to see that Shadab’s power hitting has completely vanished at such an early age. This ought to be his busiest period. He needs a lot of work, and we don’t see him batting like that. Shadab is more valuable in this batting lineup as a power batter.

The following August 2021 visit to the West Indies, which he missed, ended in a draw. But soon after, he returned to the T20 side, where all T20 matches had been postponed owing to rain save for the second T20, which Pakistan had won.

The Pakistan team roster for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, which runs from October 17 to November 14, was released in September 2021. In a group that includes Mathew Hayden and Vernon Philander as the batting and bowling coaches, Shadab Khan is chosen as Babar Azam’s replacement.

In one of his Twitter fights, a fan asked him who the hardest batter and bowler he had ever met were. He said Rohit Sharma and Lockie Ferguson

He said that the first match he played against India in the 2017 Champions Trophy was the most nerve-wracking moment of his career, while getting Yuvraj Singh out in the finals of the Champions Trophy was the best thing that has ever happened to him. Hasan Ali and Faheem Ashraf are the people on the team he likes and trusts the most. His favorite player from the past is Brian Lara.

He was also on Cricinfo’s T20 Team of the Year 2020, along with his countryman Shaheen Afridi.

PHOTO

During the PSL 2017, he met his hero, Steve Smith, in a hotel in Dubai. He was there and was so amazed that he couldn’t say a word. When he thought back to that time, he said that

“I didn’t know what to say to him because he seemed so cool. By the time I realized what was going on, the lift ride was over and he had already left. But I hope he will remember me one day.”
