In IPL 2023, LSG’s anticipated starting XI against DC features Pooran at No. 3, an England star making his first IPL debut in five years.

Delhi Capitals will be Lucknow Super Giants’ opponent when they play in the IPL 2023 season opening at home. Here is their expected starting lineup.

On Saturday, April 1, at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will play the Delhi Capitals in their first game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The KL Rahul-coached team was successful in securing a few game-winning players, and they will be hoping they can make the kind of impression that will catapult them to success in the forthcoming season.

After reflecting on their first season of play, LSG enjoyed a respectable campaign and finished the league phase third in the points standings. But following a defeat to Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator, their journey came to a grinding halt. Before the 2023 auction, Jason Holder, Manish Pandey, Dushmantha Chameera, Evin Lewis, Shahbaz Nadeem, Andrew Tye, and Ankit Rajpoot were all released by Lucknow.

The most expensive Caribbean player to ever compete in the league, Nicholas Pooran was purchased by LSG at the auction for a staggering INR 16 crore. He is a West Indian wicket-keeper batsman. Also, they were fortunate in securing the services of Australian quick Daniel Sams for INR 75 lakh, seasoned local spinner Jaydev Unadkat for INR 50 lakh, Windies all-rounder Romario Shepherd for INR 50 lakh, and youngster Yash Thakur for INR 45 lakh.

In addition to the upcoming Unadkat, Sams, Amit Mishra, and the youthful Afghan quick Naveen-ul-Haq, LSG’s bowling attack is balanced thanks to the presence of Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan, Englishman Mark Wood, and Ravi Bishnoi. But they would like to see a stronger performance from their bowling unit this year than they did in the previous one, when they tended to give up runs in crucial games.

Mohsin Khan, a talented left-arm seamer who concluded the 2022 IPL as the second-most economical bowler behind Kolkata Knight Riders’ Sunil Narine, won’t be playing for them when they get things going. He hasn’t played competitive cricket since having shoulder surgery last year, despite joining the Lucknow camp.

Quinton de Kock, who is currently in good form, won’t be available to face

With players like Pooran, Marcus Stoinis, Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya, and Ayush Badoni to assist the openers, the LSG management will be hoping that their middle order will stand up and be counted this season.

Rahul and de Kock, who both scored more than 500 runs, contributed the most of runs in IPL 2022. Among the batsmen with more than 400 runs, Deepak Hooda was the only other performer who maintained consistency.

After a disappointing season the previous year, LSG would also like to see better results from Ravi Bishnoi.

XI versus DC predicted by LSG

KL Rahul and Kyle Mayers are the starters.

Nicholas Pooran (wk), Ayush Badoni are in the middle order.

Marcus Stoinis, Krunal Pandya, and Deepak Hooda are all-arounders.

Avesh Khan, Jaydev Unadkat, Mark Wood, and Ravi Bishnoi are all bowlers.
