The RCB player’s first game went well against the Delhi Capitals, and he ended up with three catches.
On Saturday night, the Royal Challengers Bangalore beat the Delhi Capitals by a large margin of 23 runs. This was their second win in the 2023 Indian Premier League. Even though the middle order fell apart, the RCB scored a good total of 174/6 in 20 overs. Their bowlers then made quick work of an out-of-form DC side, holding them to 151/9 and giving them a much-needed win for the season.
Despite problems in their batting effort, the hosts managed to produce a competitive score in Bengaluru; nevertheless, the Delhi Capitals’ dreadful run with the bat continued as Prithiv Shaw (0 runs) was removed in the first over yet again, and Mitchell Marsh, too, went without opening his account. Yash Dhull (1) could only last four balls as DC were reduced to 2/3 in the third over.
Once again, the team has placed its hopes in skipper David Warner, who has essentially been the lone performer in DC’s star-studded batting lineup. However, it was not to be for the Capitals captain on Saturday, as RCB’s young Indian debutant Vijaykumar Vyshak dismissed him for his first league wicket.
Warner attempted a volley with poor timing after Vyshak delivered a short delivery. As Vyshak gave the RCB a game-changing breakthrough, Virat Kohli made a spectacular catch at midwicket. The dismissal bolstered the home team’s position in the match, and Vyshak soon dealt DC another setback when he removed Axar Patel for 21 in the 13th over.
The left-handed all-rounder had played several crucial innings for the Capitals this season, and his dismissal virtually ensured a victory for RCB.
Vyshak concluded his spell with the dismissal of Lalit Sharma, bringing his four-over total to an impressive 3/20. This is the greatest debut bowling performance by an Indian bowler for the RCB.
Vyshak had trials with a number of franchises, including Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants, but went unclaimed at the IPL 2023 auction. RCB eventually recruited the 26-year-old pacer from Karnataka to replace the injured Rajat Patidar, and he made an immediate impact in his first game of the season.
The fast bowler has taken 38 wickets in 10 first-class matches for Karnataka. In February 2021, he made his debut for the state team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Since then, he has played in 14 T20s for the team and taken 22 wickets. Vyshak has an outstanding economy rate of 6.92 in T20s for Karnataka. On his debut for RCB on Saturday, he produced another economical performance.
