Watch: David Warner livid; lashes out at Lalit Yadav for near catastrophic mix-up during DC vs MI IPL 2023 tie

When Lalit asked Warner for advice, he yelled at him to try for a single. He then contacted Lalit in the middle of a game to express his displeasure.

David Warner scored his third fifty of the current IPL 2023 season as the Mumbai Indians bowled out the Delhi Capitals for 172 runs in 19.4 overs. It appeared that Warner, as he had in the previous three matches in Delhi, would be left to fight the good fight alone. However, Warner received some late but able support from Axar Patel, who also hit fifty. The captain scored 51 runs off 47 balls, including six fours, while Jason Behrendorff and Piyush Chawla each took three wickets in four overs for Mumbai.

During the tie between DC and MI, David Warner lashed out at his partner for a disastrous error.

In the current season of cricket, Warner has received consistent criticism from seasoned players for the low strike rate of his half-century knocks. In contrast, Warner has been trying to find the gaps, and his displeasure has been clear as he is frequently observed muttering to himself or hitting his bat in sheer annoyance.

Another such incident occurred on Tuesday, when Warner attempted to hit compatriot Cameron Green’s fuller delivery over mid-off for a boundary, but instead hit Piyush Chawla, who was fielding at that position. Even though the MI star dropped the catch, Warner was still frustrated since he couldn’t try for the boundary. After seeing Chawla make a hash of his fielding attempt, he became enraged and screamed for a single, only to find his partner Lalit Yadav preoccupied with monitoring the ball. It was reported that Warner yelled at Lalit to try for a single. Later, in the middle of a pitch, he contacted Lalit to express his displeasure.

Lalit was fired the next day. But that brought Axar to the plate, and the two left-handers put together a 67-run partnership that brought Delhi’s score from 98 for five to 165 for six. Then, Jason Behrendorff got rid of both hitters in just three pitches. The rest of Delhi’s team fell apart quickly, and with two balls left, they were done with 172 runs.
