His father took him to Raj Kumar Sharma’s West Delhi Cricket Academy when he was 9 and a half years old.
In 2003, his coach Raj Kumar Sharma called Ashish Nehra to his academy, where he gave a prize to young Kohli because he had scored the most runs for Delhi in the 2002-2003 Polly Umrigar Trophy, with 172 runs at an average of 34.40.
In his childhood, his Delhi State teacher, Ajit Chaudhary, gave him the nickname “Chikoo.” History was his favorite topic, and he hated math.
In 2006, his father died of a brain stroke. The day after his father’s death, he played a match-saving knock for Delhi against Karnataka, scoring 90 runs.
He’s always wanted to be a bowler, so he’s never had a backup plan.
He has a lot of strange beliefs. He always puts on his “Kada” before his fights and wears black wristbands.
He is afraid of being up high.
He doesn’t like to talk on the phone for long periods of time.
Out of superstition, he always wears black bracelets.
He is both very angry and very emotional; when he’s upset, he cries. When India didn’t make it to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup in 2012, he was seen crying on the field.
In 2012, he was named ICC ODI Player of the Year.
In 2012, he was named one of the 10 best-dressed guys around the world.
The Government of India gave him the Arjuna Award in 2013 and the Padma Shri Award in 2017.

He loves Swiss tennis star Roger Federer a lot. He is also a co-owner of the ‘UAE Royals’ team in the International Premier Tennis League.
He loves getting tattoos, and the number of them keeps going up. The first one is on his left shoulder and is called “God’s Eye.” It shows that he has the power to see and understand things that are unknown or can’t be known. Second, he has the words “Japanese Samurai warrior” on his left shoulder. This is a symbol of living a life built on loyalty to one’s master, self-discipline, and acting in a respectful, honest way. Third, he has a “monastery” on his left arm. This is a place of peace and power. “Lord Shiva in meditation with Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake” is the fourth tattoo on his left arm. His Zodiac sign, “Scorpion,” is the fifth tattoo on his right arm.
In March 2023, just before the 2023 IPL season, he was seen showing off a new tattoo on his right hand. Sunny Bhanushali, the tattoo artist who gave him this new one, says that it shows how spiritual Kohli is. Bhanushali wrote on his blog, “While showing a look at Kohli’s new tattoo,
” He wanted a new tattoo to cover up his old one. As I worked on the job, I felt pressure and excitement building up inside me. I couldn’t believe I was working with Virat Kohli, who is the one and only. I could feel Virat’s energy and enthusiasm for the project. I could tell that this tattoo was important to him and that he really wanted to get it right. I put my whole heart and soul into the design, making sure that every part was perfect.”
He owns the Nueva restaurant in Delhi.
He can sing reasonably well; in fact, a video of him singing “Jo Wada Kiya Hai Nibhana Padhega” became viral in 2016.

After this poor performance, he fell into depression. Kohli told former England player Mark Nicholas about this on Nicholas’s show, “Not Just Cricket,” where he said,

He said more,

I think I need to give myself time to be fully ready to lead the Indian team in Test and ODI cricket.“ He went on to say,

Along the way, there have been numerous ups and downs, but never a lack of effort or faith. He concluded,

“Ravi Bhai and the support staff were the driving force behind this vehicle’s consistent ascent in Test Cricket. You all have been instrumental in making this vision a reality.
