The batter wins matches, but the bowler… India’s T20 series win against Australia: Suryakumar Yadav’s takeaways

In Bengaluru on Sunday, Australia had the upper hand at the innings break because they had made it hard for India to bat. But the Indian bowlers turned things around when Australia was sitting pretty at 102/3 in the 13th over. The match took a big turn in the 17th over, which was bowled by seamer Mukesh Kumar (3/32), who got two important wickets. In the end, the Australians couldn’t make it, scoring only 154/8 and losing by six runs. India beat them 4-1.

It was India’s fifth and last T201 match, and they already beat Australia on Sunday. The Indian bowlers, on the other hand, saved a small score to make it 4-1. This is good news for India as it prepares for the T20 World Cup next year.

India scored 160/8 after Australia’s captain, Matthew Wade, asked them to bat first. Shreyas Lyer’s fifty (53 off 37 balls) and cameos by Jitesh Sharma (24 off 16) and Axar Patel (31 off 21) helped them get there.

At the end of the game, Australia was ahead because they had made it hard for India to bat.

At one point, Australia was ahead 102/3 in the 13th over, but the Indian bowlers changed things around.

The match changed when seamer Mukesh Kumar (3/32) took two wickets in the 17th over. The Aussies lost by six runs because they were short of runs at 154/8.

“T20 cricket is popularly known as a batsman’s game.” A video shared by the BCCI on the microblogging site ‘X’ showed India captain Suryakumar Yadav saying, “Bowlers win series, batsmen win matches.”

India won both T201s by two wickets and 44 runs, respectively.

Then, Australia kept their hopes alive by equalizing with a five-wicket win in Guwahati. As a result, India won the series by 20 runs in the fourth T201, and on Sunday, they made it 4-1 in Bengaluru.

We obviously feel good about winning the match. It feels great to be a captain, as an added bonus. Surya smiled and said, “There’s a new angle in life.”

As usual, Indian bowlers Axar Patel (1/14) and Ravi Bishnoi (2/29) were very important in keeping the other team from scoring.

Although the game could have gone either way because Australia only needed 10 runs to win in the last over, which was bowled by Arshdeep Singh,

(2/40).

Arshdeep got rid of Wade (22) and allowed Australia to only score three runs in the over.

“I’ve seen him (Arshdeep) bowl in similar situations in franchise cricket; that’s why I saved his over for last,” Surya explained.
