Some Unknown Facts about Kona Srikar Bharat

  •  Srikar Bharat is an Indian cricketer from Andhra Pradesh. He is a wicketkeeper who can bat up the order and play aggressively when needed. He rose to prominence during a match against the Delhi Capitals when Royal Challengers Bangalore needed five runs off the last ball. Srikar Bharat smashed a six off Avesh Khan’s low full toss towards long-on, assisting his team to their ninth victory of the IPL 2021.

  • After that game, he admitted that he had asked Glenn Maxwell, his partner and the senior hitter, if he wanted the strike, but that he had responded, “No.”

            You can complete it.

           Srikar Bharat continued,

The last time, Maxi and I were discussing the regions we have access to. Watch the ball and get your bat on it, he advised. I asked him whether he wanted to chase after the final three balls, and he replied, “No, you can finish it off.  It greatly boosted my self-confidence. I was only paying attention to the next ball, which was one. rather than overthinking the situation. I made it extremely straightforward, and as a team we performed excellent work and succeeded.

  •  He was a naughty kid, which was the major reason he joined cricket. The neighbors would protest against him in his home while he was playing in the street by breaking their window panes. In an effort to keep him away from nefarious activities, his frustrated parents subsequently made the decision to enroll him in a cricket academy. He trained in the net for about 7 or 8 years. He once recalled beginning to play cricket solely for enjoyment. Additionally, he wanted to skip school. Even though his father isn’t overly strict, he is genuinely worried about his future.

  • Before the age of 17, he had never kept wickets. He just began keeping wickets when his state needed a keeper who could also bat. He did, however, practice wicketkeeping regularly before that. However, he was more frequently a slip or gully fielder. Because of his skill on the field, his coach suggested he pursue wicketkeeping. He took on the duty of wicketkeeper for the first time in a Ranji Trophy match against Hyderabad.

He was chosen as the backup player for the test series against England that same year. He continues with an hour of shadow practice in front of the mirror, practicing the strokes he would play following the lockdown. According to him, it’s crucial to eat, sleep, and drink in moderation, as well as have appropriate conversations with the appropriate individuals.

  •  Srikar Bharat was surprised to get a flood of congratulations on his cell phone after the Syed Mushtaq Trophy match between Andhra Pradesh and Mumbai on January 27, 2021. He had been chosen for the India test squad for the series against England. Bharat recalled that time and stated,

I felt depleted. I had gained a lot of confidence after seeing young people perform admirably in the recently concluded series against Australia. I’ve been waiting for my chance to play for India A for more than three years, but I must admit that I wasn’t expecting the call.

   And he continues,

Everyone wants to play for their country, and we all feel immense pride and satisfaction when we perform at the top level. Everyone would want to live for this moment as a child.

Previously, he was promoted to the Indian squad in November 2019 to replace wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha for the second pink ball test against Bangladesh; however, he did not play any games in that series. Rishabh Pant was the other wicketkeeper, but he was sent to the Mushtaq Ali Trophy to get some experience before the limited-overs series against the West Indies next month. According to the new ICC regulation for 2017, a substitute wicketkeeper can take the place of an onfield keeper if he is injured. Surprisingly, after the series, the team’s captain, Virat Kohli, presented him with the winning trophy as a kind gesture.

Previously, he was signed by the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) for 10 lakh INR in 2015 under the captaincy of former Indian speedster Zaheer Khan, but he was unable to secure a spot in the playing eleven for the entire IPL season. Interestingly, Bharat was the ball boy in a match in 2005 while Zaheer was on the national team. MS Dhoni hit 148 runs against Pakistan at Visakhapatnam in the same match. Bharat thereafter proceeded to play the duty of ball boy in every international tournament at Vizag for several years, gaining valuable experience under international playing circumstances.
