- Rahul was born into a Mangalorean middle-class family with a teaching background.
- His childhood was spent playing a variety of sports because he has always been a sports enthusiast. His parents always supported him in participating in sports, but with the caveat that if his grades fell, he would have to stop, which he never did throughout his academic career.
