Ben Stokes was bought by CSK for a huge sum of money (16.25 crores), but he hasn’t been rolling his arms because he hurt his knee before the IPL.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be looking for back-to-back victories when they face Mumbai Indians (MI) in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match at Wankhede on Saturday. However, CSK have been dealt a new injury blow ahead of the match, with star all-rounder Ben Stokes ruled out.
According to a report in The Indian Express, Stokes was advised to take at least ten days off of training after experiencing heel pain following Friday’s session.
According to the report, the CSK medical staff will make a final decision on Saturday afternoon, but those in the know have said he may not risk participating in the competition.
Stokes was bought by CSK for a whopping 16.25 crores, but he hasn’t been rolling his arms because of a knee injury he got before the IPL.
If Stokes is not in the team, Proteas all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius can come in as a like-for-like replacement.
Moeen Ali, who plays with Stokes for both England and CSK, has said that Stokes has fit in well with the team and that Ali sees Stokes as a “big part” of the group.
“He’s enjoying himself a lot. When you come to CSK, you usually have a good time and love playing for this franchise. He’s doing great. “His experience is a big part of the team,” Ali was quoted as saying in the article.
The spinner, who had taken four wickets in the last match, said that the match between Chennai and Mumbai was the most important match in the league with the most money. He then went on to say that the game was like an old rivalry in football: Manchester United vs. Liverpool.
To be honest, I can’t wait for this game. These are the two most popular teams in terms of fan support, making this one of the most important matches a professional cricketer can participate in. From a football perspective, it’s the equivalent of Manchester United taking on Liverpool. “Big games,” Ali said.
