“Arjun seems to have gotten Sachin’s…”: After Tendulkar Jr., Gavaskar starts his IPL career with a bang.
In the IPL 2023, the last few days have been all about one man: Arjun Tendulkar. Arjun, who is 23 years old, has made as many headlines as anyone else in the IPL, if not more. He made his long-awaited debut for the Mumbai Indians and then got his first wicket. Arjun, the son of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, caused a stir on the internet when he got his first cap from Rohit Sharma at the famous Wankhede Stadium against the Kolkata Knight Riders. He then made a name for himself by stopping 20 runs in the last over against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Even though there were a lot of cameras on young Arjun during both games, he did not get nervous. In his first game, which was against KKR, he started the innings and ended with 2/17. Everyone cheered for him. Things only got better in the next game, which was against SRH. In that game, Arjun did even better, getting 1/18 in three overs and getting his first wicket in the IPL. Rohit gave the ball to Arjun to bowl the important 20th over after he had only given away 14 runs in his first two overs. Arjun did not disappoint.
Sunil Gavaskar was one of many people who went crazy after the game about how well Tendulkar Jr. played. Gavaskar is one of the few people who was there when Sachin started playing cricket in the late 1980s. Whether it was fate or not, Gavaskar was also there when Arjun took his first steps in top-level cricket. Gavaskar, the former captain of India, couldn’t help but make a really interesting comment about the father and son on the Star Sports Cricket Live show. He pointed out a strange similarity between the two.
“Everyone talks about how great Sachin Tendulkar was when he first started out. But what was really great about him was his personality, and Arjun seems to have gotten that from him. He also seems to be a smart thinker. “When a young player bowls the last over for the team and gets a wicket, that’s always a good sign,” he said.
Aaron Finch thinks that Arjun’s work in the last over helped MI win their third game in a row. He, along with young players Hrithik Shokeen and Cameron Green, made up for the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer.
